UPDATE TO NOTICE TO MARINERS – TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF DOCK TO WATER TRAFFIC
CLOSURE NOW POSSIBLE UNTIL SATURDAY 24th AUGUST 2024
.
Due to weather delays that have affected heavy lifting operations it is possible that the ship offloading the large electrical transformer at Preston dock, the MV RIVER TRADER, may not be departing Preston before High Water on Saturday 24th August 2024 (approx 15.00 BST).
.
While the River Trader remains at Preston dock the locks will be closed to all water traffic. Normal lock gate operations will resume once the ship has departed.
This update Thursday 22nd August 15.00 hrs BST – Steve Miller – Preston Marine Services Ltd.
UPDATE TO NOTICE TO MARINERS – TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF DOCK TO WATER TRAFFIC
CLOSURE NOW POSSIBLE BETWEEN TUESDAY 20th AND THURSDAY 22ND AUGUST 2024
.
Due to the weather forecast it is possible that the ship carrying the electrical transformer MAY arrive at Preston dock at High Water on TUESDAY 20th AUGUST (a day earlier than the original plan – see original NTM below).
The decision rests with the captain of the ship.
The ship is still scheduled to depart at High Water on Thursday 24th.
While the ship remains at Preston dock the locks will be closed to all water traffic.
This update Monday 19th August 13.00 hrs BST – Steve Miller – Preston Marine Services Ltd.
.
TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF DOCK TO WATER TRAFFIC
WEDNESDAY 21ST AND THURSDAY 22ND AUGUST 2024
This is to advise that Preston dock and marina will be closed for all incoming and outgoing water traffic on Wednesday 21st and Thursdsay 22nd August 2024.
This is because of the arrival by ship of a very large electrical transformer for the National Grid on the 21st.
The ship will arrive around High Water on the afternoon of the 21st and stay in the lock here at Preston until planned departure the following day at High Water. In between these times the transformer will be offloaded by crane.
While the ship is in the lock, and craning operations are taking place it will not be possible for other vessels to use the lock for entry or departure from Preston dock.
If all goes according to plan the dock will be operating as normal for boats again on Friday 23rd August (lock times 1330 – 1630 BST). This notice is self-cancelling.
