An ‘assessment only’ option for those who have already taken the VHF Radio (SRC) Course (perhaps online).
The assessment consists of a written exam paper (30 mins), and then a practical assessment using our training Marine VHF / DSC radios. Candidates should allow 2 hours in total for the exam session.
The exams are conducted at our Training Centre, here at Preston Marina.

Before candidates can take their VHF / SRC exam they must pre-pay the £76 exam and licencing fee to the RYA.

Once payment has been made please print out your unique “Exam Voucher” which you must bring with you on the day of your course and/or exam.
All candidates must be 16 years old or over at the time of the examination.

VHF Radio SRC course pack supplied by their online course provider
This must include the blank Report Card / Temporary Pass certificate. Note that your Training Centre may hold this card on your behalf and you may need to ask them to forward it to us for arrival prior to the assessment.

Please write your name on the back as you would like it to appear on your certificate. (It’s OK to smile!)
The “exam voucher”
This is sent in an email by the RYA once the exam is paid for online. Please ensure this is printed in LANDSCAPE format.
