Marine Engineer
A small on-site workshop and compound can be offered for a concession specialising in servicing and repair work to all types of marine engines – inboard / outboard / petrol / diesel.
There is definately a need for a good marine engine specialist in our area. The opportunity can also include all the service and warranty work for engines that we sell. This opportunity could also include a new inboard engines sales dealership as replacing older boat engines is a growing market.
This opportunity could also possibly be combined with….
.
Marine Electrician / Electronics Specialist
To provide sales / installation / service / repair of boat electrical systems and electronic equipment (eg Radios / Navigation Systems / Radar / Auto pilots etc…). We can assist with the sourcing of and supply equipment and parts if required). Workshop facilities could be made available.
.
Boat Repairs / Maintenance
Fibreglass repairs / woodwork / painting / antifouling / rigging / boat cleaning….etc
.
Sailing Lessons
Our city centre location and 40 acre non-tidal dock basin, combined with the marina and its facilites offers an excellent resource to be able to teach basic keelboat / cruising sailing courses. The opportunity exists for a new training centre to be established specficially to teach sailing courses within the dock, alongside our own already established RYA training centre which teaches powerboat courses and shore based courses. We are confident there will be good demand for sailing lessons year round. Due to the nature of the waterway keelboats must be used (to be supplied by the new centre).
.
Boat Trips
The Riversway Docklands attracts high footfall and the 40 acre dock basin makes for very attractive short boat trips. Boat trips would compliment the extremely popular steam railway that runs regularly during holidays and at weekends. The possibility of offering trips in the River Ribble exists – but tidal restrictions need close consideration.
.
New Boat Sales Dealerships
Preston Marina is well located for boat sales – within easy reach of the large population centres of the North of England and with access to the sea and inland waters. the Lake District is an hour away. The 40 acre dock basin is ideal for boat demonstrations and our boatyard has good potential display areas ashore.
