Only boats of minimum agreed value of £30,000 which meet our high standards will be accepted for this new brokerage facility, terms and conditions apply.
Boat Acceptance Criteria
This service is available subject to application and acceptance by Preston Marine Services Ltd (PMS Ltd). Boats must have a minimum market value of £30,000 or more. The valuation of the boat must be agreed by Preston Marine Services Ltd (PMS Ltd). Boats must be in good, marketable condition with all relevant documentation (CE, VAT, Clear Title).
Upon successful application, a Brokerage Agreement between PMS Ltd (Broker) and the Vendor will be prepared and signed by both parties. A £100 administration fee is charged by PMS Ltd at this time. This fee is refunded to the vendor upon a completed sale of the boat through PMS Ltd.
Sales Commission.
The sales commission charged by PMS Ltd is based upon the agreed asking price of the boat, and is calculated as follows;
Boats of value over £100,000 2.5% + VAT
Boats of value £50,000 - £99,999 4% + VAT
Boats of value £30,000 - £49,999 5% + VAT
Marina Berthing / Storage
Boat’s accepted onto PMS Ltd’s Premier Brokerage Service are accommodated at 50% of our normal berthing tariff – charges are monthly and are pro-rata based on our annual rate. The discount is applied in the form of a 50% berthing refund upon a completed sale through PMS Ltd.
This discount only applies to berthing. All other goods and services are offered by PMS Ltd at normal rates.
This berthing discount only applies to boat's brought to Preston Marina specifically for the purpose of being put on the brokerage scheme. Boats already berthed at Preston Marina prior to being placed on brokerage do not qualify for this berthing reduction.
Boats for sale on brokerage on an appropriate UK road legal trailer are stored at Preston Marina free of charge for 6 months.
All boats are berthed subject PMS Ltd Terms Of Business and the General Conditions of the Yacht Harbour Association.
Boat Presentation
Boats accepted for this scheme must be well presented. Owner’s are encouraged to ensure this is the case prior to application. PMS Ltd is happy to provide quotations for any preparation work that may be required.
Once a month, boats accepted on this service will be given upto 1 hour’s general cleaning free of charge.
Advertising & Marketing
Boats accepted onto this service will have a comprehensive multi page particulars document prepared, with at least 10 colour photographs (with more on the website). The document is aimed at providing potential buyers with an overview of the specification, inventory and history of the boat in question. The same information will be on our own website. We also use industry leading boat sales websites such as ybw.com, Boatsandoutboards.co.uk, Apollo Duck and Boats.com.
At our discretion we will also place advertisements in popular boating magazines.
Boat Viewings
PMS Ltd must hold a set of keys for all boats for sale with this service. When a potential buyer has made a prior appointment subject to the availability of a member of PMS Ltd’s boat sales staff, viewings will be accompanied. Otherwise viewings will be unaccompanied. A record of all visitors is kept, and boats that have been viewed will be checked at the end of each working day.
Period of agreement
This service is available to boats for upto 12 months from commencement of the brokerage agreement. Should a boat remain unsold after this time then an application may be made by the vendor to renew the agreement, although a review of the boat’s value and the current market circumstances may apply.
Please note - from January 1st 2009 we will not be able to accept boats for brokerage that are not situated at Preston Marina.
