Clubs based at Preston Marina
We are a new club that was set up in the Spring of 2016 with the support of the National British Champions “Amathus”, the Dragon Boat Club in Liverpool and the British Dragon Boat Racing Association (BDA). We aim to provide an affordable fun activity for anyone who wants to get involved. There will be racing opportunities for those more serious and there will be ‘just for fun’ sessions for others who fancy some fun and fitness!
Our club is a community club run by a group of volunteers, we are a not for profit club that intends to help local charities once we have become established. Our first challenge is to buy our own equipment; our boat is currently on loan from the BDA and our paddles and buoyancy aids are on loan from “Amathus”. If you fancy getting involved with this, please let one of the coaches or committee members know.
is to promote the sport of sailing in the 40 acre main basin of
Preston's redeveloped docks, located virtually in our city centre and is
a sheltered body of water ideal for small keelboat sailing, training and
racing - available 365 days per year (subject to appropriate weather).
This is new club, only founded in Summer 2016, and it is hoped that as more members and their boats join the club we will be able to run regular races and social events.
We are also planning to able to offer sail training in co-operation with a training partner, so those who have always wanted to give sailing a try will be able to.
The emphasis is on informality and fun and we hope that anyone with an interest in sailing from the greater Preston area will get in touch, whether you are just starting out or whether you are an experienced campaigner we would love to hear from you.
