For over 230
years, Camper & Nicholson has managed the design and build of the
world's most acclaimed yachts. No-one will argue the sea-going
credentials and elegant performance of what has become a contemporary
classic.
"Wandering Star" is in commission, but could
possibly best be described as being the subject of an on-going
modernisation / re-fit. Many of the systems have been renewed in recent
years - for example, the engine, the yacht's electrics and the
electronics are all current generation technology. A new owner could
undertake some general pre-season servicing work and enjoy sailing the
rest of the season out with her, and then set about a satisfying winter
schedule to include - re-painting the decks, polish the topsides and
re-varnish the woodwork (if you only did those 3 things, "Wandering
Star" would really look like the thoroughbred she is). There is some
fairing work on the foredeck required where the pulpit mounting has been
re-mounted with epoxy.
Accommodation on
"Wandering Star" comprises of a two-berth forecabin and midships is the
heads area with sink to starboard and heads compartment to port. Aft to
port is the galley area with sink (with access to the engine below),
there is room for a gimballed cooker but the current owner uses a
portable ring. There is a small solid-fuel burner to starboard in the
saloon. Aft to starboard is the navigation area. Three further berths
are available in the saloon; there is standing headroom throughout the
saloon area. The saloon upholstery looks to have been replaced within
the last 10 years, and looks to be in reasonably good order - and the
interior is clean, if somewhat dated - and could benefit from some
re-varnishing and general finishing off.
Wandering Star is currently afloat – surveyed April 2007.
